This presentation is geared towards those who would like to start a Governance program but don’t know where to begin. It will help you understand the basics of governance, and what you can do in your own organization, with the tools and budgets you have.
We will cover the foundational elements of Governance including:
-Securing sponsorship
-Defining Ownership & Stewardship
-Building a Governance framework that works for you
-Building a process and tools that can work for you
We will also cover getting started from wherever you are:
-Determining an effective scope
-Setting objectives
-Deciding on data, process or systems governance – or all three
-Communications and documents
We will also explore basics concepts including:
-The drivers for governance
-Deciding where to start
-Building without a budget
-How not to boil the ocean
-The need to NOT just keep doing what you’re doing |

Bio of Presenter
Brett Mueller serves as the Governance Lead within the Global Process Organization, of First Data, Inc. In this role, Brett works with global finance and technology leadership to build governance plans, processes and systems; in support of global process and technology implementation. Brett also serves as the U.S. Privacy Officer for the finance organization of First Data, Inc.
Prior to joining First Data, Brett served as the Chief Information Officer for the State of Colorado, Department of Revenue; leading technology vision and implementation for Taxation, Payment Processing, Motor Vehicle and Lottery Divisions.
Brett has over twenty years of experience, serving in technology, development, process and operational executive leadership roles; for companies such as Swift Newspapers, Quark and Harte Hanks, Inc.
